TCHS Receives Grant to Preserve Collection
The Trumbull County Historical Society has received a $202,634 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The grant money, which will be used over three years, will be used to properly catalog and store historic artifacts in the collection and hire a collections manager and collections conservator.
TCHS director Meghan Reed says the collection consists of around 20,000 objects related to Trumbull County history. “Part of this process will be to catalog each individual item, photograph it and put it on a public facing collections software.”
Reed says this project will help to build access to the historic collections. “We’ll be able to have an open storage facility so if anybody wanted to come and do research on an artifact, or just visitor to the John Stark Edwards house and to the Morgan house when it opens, our complete collection will be on display for the community.”
