TCTC Students Excel on STNA Exam
CHAMPION TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Pre-nursing pharmacy and pre-nursing phlebotomy students at Trumbull Career and Technical Center had one of the top first-time passing rates for the state tested nursing aide exam.
On the written section of the exam, the school’s passage rate was 90%, well above the statewide rate of 67%. On the skills portion of the test, TCTC’s passage rage was 95%, above the state rate of 83%.
“We are so pleased with the performance of our students. Undoubtedly, a great deal of work and dedication enabled this achievement. The majority of this test preparation took place during our unexpected shift to remote learning, and I commend the students and program instructors for their adaptability,” said TCTC program supervisor Paula Baco in a statement. “This is a critical time to be providing a high-quality education to future healthcare workers. It is great to see that we had such a large number of students receive this certification and get a jumpstart on their careers.”
Students did their clinical practice at Shepherd of the Valley in Liberty and Howland. Half of the students who passed their STNA exam are working in local health-care centers.
