The Update | Al Stewart Coming to Robins; Central Park Photo Exhibit at the Hoyt

WARREN, Ohio – Singer-songwriter and folk-rock musician Al Stewart with his band The Empty Pockets will perform at the Robins Theatre at 8 p.m. May 21.

Tickets range from $29 to $49 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at RobinsTheatre.com and the box office, 160 E. Market St., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Stewart is best known for his hits “Year of the Cat” and “Time Passages.” He came to stardom as part of the British folk revival in the 1960s and ’70s.

Central Park Photo Exhibit at the Hoyt

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – “Northern Central Park: A Visual Journey” will open with a public reception on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. at Arts & Education at the Hoyt, 124 E. Leasure Ave. The show will run though Feb. 24.

On assignment for a newspaper, photographer William E. Lyons photographed Central Park in New York City over a two-day period in August 2017.

Intrigued by the rich landscape and diverse wildlife in Central Park, Lyons spent the days photographing both the northern and southern sections. The Hoyt will feature the northern section; the southern half is currently on display at The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio.

The Hoyt is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

‘Salute to Motown’ at Robins Theatre

WARREN, Ohio – Moxie Events will present “A Salute to Motown: All the Hits!” at the Robins Theatre at 7 p.m. March 26.

The show is a high-energy tribute to acts such as The Temptations, The Supremes, Mary Wells, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Martha & The Vandellas, Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell and others.

Tickets range from $15 to $35 (all seats reserved) and available at RobinsTheatre.com and at the theater box office weekdays between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Steve Vai Concert Postponed until November

WARREN, Ohio – The date of the upcoming concert by Steve Vai at Packard Music Hall has been changed to Nov. 8. All tickets previously purchased will be honored on the new date. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com.

The concert was originally scheduled for March 8.

Square Dance at the Scope Center

NILES, Ohio – The Friendly Squares’ next monthly square dance will be Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Niles Scope Center, 14 E. State St. Gene Hammond will be the caller and Frankie Hammond will be cuing line dances.

Valentines will be the theme for the dance. This will be a high/low dance with alternating tips for new dancers currently taking lessons and tips for more experienced dancers. Dress is casual and light refreshments will be served. Admission is $6 per person.

Tickets on Sale for ‘Lion, Witch, Wardrobe’

SALEM, Ohio – Tickets are now on sale for Salem Community Theatre’s production of “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe,” which will be performed at 7 p.m. Feb. 4, 5, 11 and 12; and at 2 p.m. Feb. 6 and 13.
