The Update | Amy Grant Coming to Packard; Oktoberfest in Downtown Youngstown

WARREN, Ohio – Christian contemporary music star Amy Grant will come to Packard Music Hall on March 22, 2023. Tickets are $69.50, $49.50, $39.50 and $29.50, and go on sale Monday, Sept. 19, at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com and at the Packard box office.

Grant is credited with putting contemporary Christian on the music map, becoming the first artist of the genre to have a platinum record, the first to hit No. 1 on the pop charts, and the first to perform at the Grammy Awards.

Grant has received six Grammy Awards and 26 Dove Awards.

Oktoberfest in Downtown Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN – The inaugural downtown family-friendly Oktoberfest will take place Saturday, Sept. 17, on the Phelps Street pedestrian walkway, from 4 to 7 p.m. Admission is free.

The event will include games for children, face painting, treats, a polka band, and more.

Several downtown businesses will add to the fun:

Penguin City Brewery will feature Del Sinchak Orchestra from 7-10 p.

The Federal will have a pie eating contest.

Prima Cucina and Bistro 1907 will have dinner specials.

Imbibe and Ryes will have drink specials.

Youngstown Axe will offer ax throwing from 4-10 p.m. ($5 for 10 throws).

Also offering special drinks and items will be Side Quest Coffee, Rhine Haus, the Downtown Draught House, V2 restaurant, the Whistle and Keg, DOPE Cider House, Greyland Vintage and Youngstown Cityscape.

Two other events will take place downtown this weekend. The Rust Belt Revival motorcycle show will take place Saturday from 2-9 p.m. in front of Soap Gallery on South Champion Street; and Oh Wow’s! Silly Science Sunday will be Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Cenral Square.

Frank Sinatra Concert for Valentine’s Day

WARREN, Ohio – The Music of Frank Sinatra with Michael Sonata & the Dave Banks Big Band Orchestra will come to the Robins Theatre for Valentine’s Day 

Tickets range between $35 and $15 (plus applicable fees) and go on sale on Friday, Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. at robinstheatre.com and at the box office, 160 E. Market St.

World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra Concert

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will come to Stambaugh Auditorium on Dec. 5 for a 7:30 p.m. concert of holiday hits and big band swing standards.

The legendary Glenn Miller was one of the most successful of all dance bandleaders back in the Swing Era of the 1930s and 1940s.

Today, the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra is a fully self-contained group consisting of the music director, five saxophone players, four trumpeters, four trombonists, and three rhythm musicians (piano, bass and drums). Also, there are two vocalists who perform individually and as part of The Moonlight Serenaders vocal group.

Michael Carbonaro Coming to Packard

WARREN, Ohio – Illusionist Michael Carbonaro will perform at Packard Music Hall on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Tickets range from $62 to $32 and go on sale Monday, Sept. 12, at 10 am at ticketmaster.com and the box office.

Best known as the star and executive producer of the hit TV series “The Carbonaro Effect” on truTV and now on HBOMax, Michael Carbonaro is once again entertaining audiences around the country with his new live touring show.

Exhibit at Morgan History Center

WARREN, Ohio — “Keeping It Personal: People, Places, and Their Things,” an exhibit curated by Trumbull County Historical Society intern Katrina Anderson and curator of collections Sarah Moell, is on display at the Morgan History Center in downtown Warren.

The exhibit pairs images from TCHS’s collection with objects associated with the images. A portrait of Elizabeth Iddings is accompanied by her Bible. An original arch from the Trumbull County Courthouse is paired with historic images of the courthouse through time.

The Morgan History Center is at 303 Monroe St. Parking is available behind the building with the entrance located at the back door.

‘Historic Barns’ Author to Speak

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Robert Kroeger, author of “Ohio Historic Barns,” will give a presentation at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in the meeting room of Denny’s restaurant, 4020 Belmont Ave.
