Tree Ornaments Benefit Art Education at TAG

WARREN, Ohio – Trumbull Art Gallery’s Angels for Art Education program has returned for its second year.

The educational outreach program targets local school children and underserved populations. A collaboration between TAG and local art teachers, it identifies students who may benefit from additional visual art lessons at TAG’s gallery at 158 N. Park Ave., downtown.

The program also offered art lessons at the Warren Farmers Market and through Trumbull County Children’s Services.

To kick off this year’s efforts, TAG has launched the Angel Tree campaign as part of its annual Trees at the Gallery holiday marketplace, which takes place through Jan. 7.

The tree is decorated with ceramic angel ornaments handcrafted by local artist Stephanie Sferra. Those wishing to contribute can select an angel from the tree, and with a minimum donation of $10, take it home to keep or give as a gift.

Auditions for Playhouse’s ‘Pass Over’

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Auditions for the Youngstown Playhouse production of “Pass Over” will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 21 and 22 in the theater’s front room.

“Pass Over,” written by Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu, takes the audience into the lives of two African American males who spend day and night on the curbside under a street lamp, passing the time and hoping that maybe
today will be different. As they dream of their promised land, a stranger wanders into their space with his own agenda and causes unnecessary trouble. Emotional and lyrical, “Pass Over” exposes the raw spirit of these young men stuck in a cycle just looking for a way out.

Lundeana M. Thomas is the director. The cast requires two African American males age 18-25 and one white male age 25-45. Rehearsals will begin in February.

Technical rehearsals will occur the week of April 10, and performances will take place April 14-16 and 21-23.
