The Update | Buhl Park Art Trail Unveiling; Jazz Concert at YSU
SHARON, Pa. – The Sharon Tiger Techs robotics team, in collaboration with Buhl Park, will unveil artwork along the fitness trail at Buhl Park on Wednesday, April 10. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. near the butterfly garden next to Lake Julia.
The robotics team has been working on the project, Paint the Park, for the past eight months.
Planning for the art trail started in August and included a Paint the Park event in October at which over 100 artists painted scenes of Buhl Park. Community members of all ages and art backgrounds participated, along with musicians, artists and organizations such as HopeCat and Random Acts of Artists.
Participants created artwork at five sites along the trail, depicting the scene at each place. A panel of judges reviewed the completed artwork and selected one from each of the five locations to be displayed on the trail.
Sharon Commercial Printing of Sharon designed panels to display the artwork and has installed them along the trail.
The goal of the project was to increase art participation and inspire creativity in those who visit the park’s fitness trail for years to come.
Funding for the Paint the Park project was provided by the Community Foundation of Western PA and Eastern OH, including the Gurgovits Family Foundation, Bill and Stella Perrine Foundation, Winner Foundation and Wilson Trust Fund. Additional support was provided by Sharon Commercial Printing.
