The Update | Butler Art Show Winners; ‘Rocky Horror’ at Penguin City
YOUNGSTOWN – Josh Ryhal of Hubbard won Best in Show of the Area Artists Annual exhibition, which opened Sunday at the Butler Institute of American Art.
Ryhal’s winning submission was a portrait dubbed “You” created with a ballpoint pen.

‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ at Penguin City
YOUNGSTOWN – On Saturday, Oct. 29, at 9 p.m., Penguin City Beer along with Rebel Rescue Ranch and Absolut Vodka will screen the 1975 classic cult film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” with audience participation on its 300-inch screen. Admission is $5.
Rebel Rescue will sell the party favor prop list bags to participate in the film. Proceeds from sale of bags goes to Rebel Rescue Ranch, a nonprofit animal rescue. DJ Spruce will play Halloween tunes starting at 7 p.m. and following the movie. Absolut Vodka drink specials throughout the night, giveaways, and a costume contest.
Zombie Crawl, Trunk or Treat in Lisbon
LISBON, Ohio – The Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Zombie Crawl and Trunk or Treat will take place Saturday, Oct. 29, from 2 to 5 p.m. downtown and at the Columbiana County Courthouse parking lot.
The Zombie Crawl will start at 2 p.m. Face painters will be at the Gazebo at 1 p.m. to prepare participants.
Trunk or Treat will take place in the courthouse parking lot. There will be a free haunted house zombie sundaes.
Prizes will be awarded for the best-decorated trunks and best zombies.

Candy donations can be dropped at the Chamber office at 120 N. Market St.
Lit Youngstown Poetry Reading
YOUNGSTOWN – Lit Youngstown’s First Wednesday Reader Series Presents poet and fiction writer Kelly Hambly of Kent and poet Jimmy Sutman of Youngstown at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at Soap Gallery, 117 S. Champion St.
The free event, hosted by Denise Sculli, will be followed by an open mic session.
Literary Magazine Presents Fundraiser
WARREN – Olney Magazine, an independent literary journal in print and online that is headquartered in Warren, will present a fundraiser from 4 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Nov. 12, at Havana House in Niles.
Admission is free. The evening will include live music and the opening of an art exhibition, with all pieces donated by local artists.
Modern Methods Brewery has produced an exclusive beer for the event called “Twist The Axe.”
Youngstown Coffee Co. coffee and Havana House cigar bundles will be given away as donation incentives.
Olney Magazine was founded in 2021 by Brandon Noel and has an all-volunteer staff.
It publishes works by artists and writers but has never been able to pay them. The goal of the fundraiser is to allow the magazine to start paying its contributers.
