The Update | Dylan Scott to Perform at USFL Title Game; ‘Little Shop’ Auditions

CANTON, Ohio – Country music star Dylan Scott will perform before the USFL Championship game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium on July 1.

Scott will appear at the Hall of Fame Village Fan Engagement Zone for fans attending the game.

Gates will open at 5 p.m., with the concert at 6 p.m. and kickoff at 8 p.m.

“I’m pumped to be part of the USFL Championship game this year,” Scott said.

The Pittsburgh Maulers, champion of the North Division, will face the Birmingham Stallions, champion of the South Division, in the title game.

‘Little Shop of Horrors’ Auditions

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Auditions for The Youngstown Playhouse’s production of “Little

Shop of Horrors” will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. July 10 and 11 at the theater.

The roles of Seymour, Audrey, Mr. Mushnik, Orin, Crystal/Ronnette/Chiffon, voice of Audrey II, puppeteer of Audrey II and ensemble are open.

Auditionees may be asked to read from the script and should prepare a song that showcases vocal range (must provide own tracks). Light movement may also be required; dress comfortably.

The creative team is Robert Dennick Joki (director and costume designer) and includes

Tyler Stouffer (music director) and Caitlyn Santiago (stage manager). 

Rehearsals are tentatively set to begin on Aug. 14. Technical rehearsals will occur the week of Sept. 18, and performances will take place Sept. 22-24 and 29-30 and Oct. 1.

Wrestling Under the Stars Gets New Date

NILES, Ohio – Wrestling Under the Stars has been rescheduled to Sunday, July 30, at Eastwood Field.

It had originally been scheduled for July 29.

Confirmed to appear at the event are The Acclaimed, WWE Hall of Famers Ron Simmons and Billy Gunn, El Hijo del Vikingo, Komander, AEW women’s superstar Willow Nightingale and Matt Taven.

The show starts at 5 p.m. There will be a fan meet and greet for all in attendance prior to the event.

Donation for OWR’s ‘Carmen’

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Opera Western Reserve has received a $10,000 donation from the Frank & Pearl E. Gelbman Charitable Foundation, administered by Huntington Bank, in support of its Nov. 17 production of “Carmen.” The opera will be presented at Powers Auditorium.

The grant is the first of a three-year commitment in support of OWR.
