WARREN, Ohio – Country music a capella vocal group Home Free will come to Packard Music Hall on Sept. 25.

Tickets range from $65 to $35 (plus applicable fees) and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9.

An online only presale will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday; use the password Packard.

Selah Theater Unveils Upcoming Season

STRUTHERS, Ohio – Selah Dessert Theater’s 2024-25 season will begin with the special two-night event “Mr. Lincoln” by Herbert Mitgang. 

Tom O’Donnell will recreate his role as President Abraham Lincoln in this one-man show, which was the first show produced at Selah Dessert Theater in 2014. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Sept. 6 and 7.

Mary Ruth Lynn, director of the theater, said a new website, logo and reserved seating option will be unveiled this season, which is Selah’s 10th. To learn more, go to selahdesserttheater.com.

The rest of the lineup is:

  • “The Birthday Party” by Harold Pinter, a story of suspense that brings chaos to a place of calm routine. Nov. 7-9, 15-16, 22-23.
  • “Searching For Eden: The Diaries of Adam and Eve” by Jim Still, a story of the seasons of marriage, Feb. 20-22, Feb. 28-March 1, March 7-8.
  • “Ripcord” by David Lindsay-Abaire, a fast-paced comedy about aging and changing, May 8-10, 16-17, 23-24.

Auditions for ‘Addams Family,’ ‘Rat Pack Christmas’

SHARON, Pa. – Auditions for ACTS Performing Arts Center’s productions of “The Addams Family: A Musical Comedy” and “A Rat Pack Christmas” will take place jointly from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 11 and 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 13 at the theater, 40 S. Irvine St.

Both shows are directed by Ron Sinesio.

Auditionees should report directly to 40 Below cabaret venue, on the lower level of the theater, to complete paperwork, and then proceed to the main stage.

“The Addams Family” auditionees should come prepared to sing a memorized song, preferably a comic one. Lyric sheets and cellphones are not allowed. Auditionees should bring sheet music, as accompanists will be provided. Auditions will include readings from the script as well as a dance audition.

“The Addams Family” will run Oct. 11-13 and 18-20.

“A Rat Pack Christmas” will feature favorite Rat Pack songs with some Christmas music, along with Great American standards. The show requires eight male and female singers who can sing the Great American standards. 

Auditionees should prepare a memorized song, preferably a Great American standard by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Rosemary Clooney, Ella Fitzgerald or Doris Day.

“A Rat Pack Christmas” will run Dec. 6-8.

Artists Sought to Create Mural, Bus Shelter Wrap

WARREN, Ohio – Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership is seeking artists to create a mural and bus shelter wrap in downtown Warren with the theme of celebrating a healthy community.

The selected artist will design and execute a 118-foot-by-45-foot mural and a complementary bus shelter wrap that is 20.25-feet by 5.8 feet.

Candidates must be professional artists, designers or fabricators, or partnered with professional artists, designers or fabricators, and at least 18 years old.

Selected artists will receive compensation for their work.

State Extends Tax Credits to Filmmakers

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Gov. Mike DeWine has announced $36.7 million in state tax credits for 17 theatrical, television and film production projects.

The Ohio Department of Development is awarding the tax credits as part of the Motion Picture Tax Credit Program. 

Fourteen feature films, one television miniseries, one television series and one Broadway/theatrical production are expected to create about 500 new jobs, nearly $122 million in eligible production expenditures and $150 million in total production expenses.

The Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit Program was created in 2009 to encourage and develop a strong film industry in Ohio. Since 2016, the program has supported 138 projects.

This year marks the first time a Broadway show has received support from the program.

The Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit Program provides a refundable tax credit of 30 percent on production cast and crew wages and other in-state spending for eligible productions, including feature-length films, documentaries, Broadway and pre-Broadway productions, miniseries, video games and music videos.
