The Update | Hopewell Theatre Presents ‘Rabbit Hole’; Gabby Barrett Coming to Packard
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Hopewell Theatre’s production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama “Rabbit Hole” will open a two-weekend run June 14.
The humorous and true-to-life play by David Lindsay-Abaire is a powerful exploration of grief, healing, love and hope.
“Rabbit Hole” tells the story of Becca and Howie Corbett, a couple grappling with the sudden loss of their young son. As they navigate the complexities of their new reality, the play balances moments of intense emotion with surprising humor, offering a profound look at the resilience of the human spirit.
“This is an amazing piece of theater,” said director Nick Mulichak. “And they do it so expertly, you’ll forget you’re watching a play. It’s serious, and it’s funny. I’ve seen it over and over, and they still make me laugh every night.”
The cast includes Stephanie Chavara, Brandon Donaldson, Wendy Wygant, Molly Galano and Ethan Rodriguez.
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. June 14-15 and 21-22; and 2 p.m. June 23.
Tickets are $15 ($12 for students and seniors) and can be purchased in advance at hopewelltheatre.org. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. The theater is at 702 Mahoning Ave.
Country Singer Gabby Barrett Coming to Packard
WARREN, Ohio – Country singer Gabby Barrett will come to Packard Music Hall on Aug. 22 for an 8 p.m. concert.
Tickets range from $89.75 to $39.75 (plus applicable fees) and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, at ticketmaster.com and the Packard box office. An online-only presale will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday; use the password Packard.
Barrett, a Pittsburgh-area native, finished third on the 16th season of “American Idol” in 2018. She released her debut album, “Goldmine,” in 2020.
Barrett is known for her hit songs “I Hope” and “The Good Ones.”
She was nominated for four Country Music Association Awards in 2021: Female Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year (“The Good Ones”), Song of the Year (“The Good Ones”) and New Artist of the Year.
Multifamily Garage Sale at Collingwood Center

NILES, Ohio – The Friendly Squares’ monthly square dance will take place from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St.
Rebecca Shull will be the caller, and Frankie Hammond will cue the line dances. This will be Strawberry Shortcake night and will be a Plus dance. Dress is casual. Admission is $7.
