The Update | Jazz Concert at YSU; Wine and Beer Tasting at Barrel 33

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Two Youngstown State University jazz combos will present a free concert in Ford Theater on Monday, April 17.

A quintet led by Dave Kana and a quartet led by Chandler Carpenter will perform in the show, which will start at 7:30 p.m. Ford Theater is on the lower level of Bliss Hall.

Kana’s group will feature music by undergraduate student Aaron White, Miles Davis and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Carpenter’s quartet will perform a set of music by Nate Yingling consisting of three original compositions and an arrangement of a Stevie Wonder song.

Wine and Beer Event for Stambaugh Chorus

HOWLAND TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Around the World, a wine and beer tasting event, will take place Sunday, April 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Barrel 33, 8208 E. Market St., Howland.

Guests can sample wines from Ohio, Washington, Oregon, California and Argentina, and beer from Germany, Belgium, Michigan and Ohio.

Tickets are $30 per person. Food will be available for purchase, and there will also be a basket raffle and a 50/50 drawing.

All proceeds will benefit the Stambaugh Chorus.

Scrappers Game Tickets to Go on Sale

NILES, Ohio – Single game tickets for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers will go on sale Friday, April 14, at 10 a.m. at mvscrappers.com, by phone at 330 505 0000 and at the Eastwood Field box office. Prices start at $9.

The home opener will be Thursday, June 1, when the Scrappers take on the West Virginia Black Bears at Eastwood Field at 7:05 p.m. The game will be a buck night, with post-game fireworks.
