The Update | New York Tenors Coming to Packard; Comicon at Holiday Inn

WARREN, Ohio – The New York Tenors, with Arianna Paz, will bring their Christmas show to Packard Music Hall on Thursday, Dec. 14, for a 7 p.m. concert.

The New York Tenors are Daniel Rodriguez, Andy Cooney and Christopher Macchio.

Star Wars Actor at Comic Book Convention

BOARDMAN, Ohio – The Mahoning Valley Comicon will take place Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Holiday Inn in Boardman.

It will feature comic book artists, cosplayers, vendors, panel discussions and celebrity guests Deep Roy (“Star Wars,” “Star Trek” and “Dr. Who” franchises), Ming Chen (“Comic Book Men,” “Clerks II”), Matt Horak (Marvel Comics) and others.

There will be adult and children’s cosplay contests with cast prices.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $10 (free for children 10 and under). Tickets can be purchased at the door or online for $9 at mahoningvalleycomicon.com.

Dana Students to Present Musical Program

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Dana School of Music students will perform a musical program at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, in the meeting room of Denny’s Restaurant, 4020 Belmont Ave., as part of the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society’s lecture series.

Admission is $10 ($5 for society members). The event will include a 50/50 raffle to benefit the society’s education mission. Reservations are suggested; call 330 726 8277.

Wyatt Engstrom and Alfred Todd will perform trumpet selections from Mozart, Jean Baptiste Arban and Kenneth Baird.

Engstrom is a member of the YSU jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, brass quintet and marching band, and is active with the Sharon High School Band. Todd is a member of the YSU jazz band, quintet and wind ensemble, and is also an instructor at Smarts.
