The Update | Nude on Park Art Show Returns; Irish Fest Launches Corned Beef Contest
WARREN, Ohio – The sixth annual Nude on Park art exhibition will take place from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Art on Park, 180 N. Park Ave., downtown.
The show is a celebration of the naked human form and erotic art. Admission is free, but attendees must be age 18 or older.
Nude on Park is presented by the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County. The one-night event will feature music by Bradley Dunn, a live body painting session and a boudoir photography shoot.
Attendees are welcome to dress according to the theme of the event.
The exhibition is being paired with a blacklight art show that will feature erotic and other art that is blacklight reactive.
The shows are curated by Dovey Wuvey and will feature works by Angelo Maneage, Samandra Lynne, Ralph Blankenship, Frank Maggiano, Mark Cappabianco, Apryle Elizabeth, Djente, James Owens, Jessica Romeo, Susan Jacobs, Gary W. Irish Fest Announces Best Corned Beef Contest
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Mahoning Valley Irish Festival’s inaugural Best Corned Beef in the Valley contest will take place Sunday, Feb. 19, at B&O Station Banquet Hall, 530 Mahoning Ave., from noon to 4 p.m.
Awards will be given for Best Corned Beef – Judge’s Choice, chosen by a panel of judges; and People’s Choice, chosen by popular vote.
Only 150 tickets will be sold at $15 each at Eventbrite.com. There will also be a children’s soda bread contest.

There is no fee to enter, but contestants must provide their own corned beef and enough samples for 200 people.
Contestants must be a restaurant or other business and must prepare the corned beef in a certified commercial kitchen.

The 2023 Mahoning Valley Irish Festival will take place July 28-29 at Penguin City Brewing, downtown.
Black Wolf and the Thief to Record Album at Show
WARREN, Ohio – Black Wolf and the Thief will play its new album, “The Darkness Around Us Is Deep,” in its entirety and also record it in a special session at noon Saturday, Jan. 21, at Modern Methods Brewing Co.
The Warren rock band will perform in the warehouse space at the brewery, which will be open. The public is welcome to come to the performance and be part of the taping.
Modern Methods is located at 125 Dave Grohl Alley, downtown.
Snow Sisters Event Includes the Movie ‘Frozen’
WARREN, Ohio – Castle on a Cloud Entertainment and Moxie Events will present Blizzard Bash with the Snow Sisters at 2 p.m. March 25 and 26 at Robins Theatre.
The family event will begin with a theatrical performance, followed by the 2013 Disney movie “Frozen.” The theater will be transformed into a snowy wonderland, and children can meet and have photos taken with the characters in costume.
Tickets are $22.50 (plus applicable fees). A Magical Goody Bag is available for an additional $17.50. All seating is general admission.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at robinstheatre.com and at the box office, 160 E. Market St.
Virtual Reality Art Exhibit at McDonough Museum
YOUNGTOWN, Ohio – Five new exhibitions will open Friday, Jan. 20, at the McDonough Museum of Art and run through March 4.
The exhibitions include “The Possible Actuals: World Building and the Landscape in Virtual Reality,” curated by Dana Sperry, a digital media professor at Youngstown State University. It will include three original works of art in virtual reality by Yvette Granata, Marie-Eve Levasseur and Amy Youngs.
Exhibitions in the galleries will include large- and small-scale printed works by Taryn McMahon; photographic works by Lori Kella; a multimedia exhibition by Amanda D. King, curated by Amber N. Ford; and paintings by Mark Keffer.
An opening reception will take place Friday, Jan. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Kella will give an artist talk on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 5:10 p.m. in the McDonough lecture hall. King will give an artist talk on Feb. 22 in the hall.
The exhibitions and reception are free to the public. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“To my knowledge, this will be the first exhibition of its kind in the area,” said Claudia Berlinski, director of the museum. Visitors can experience the works of art through VR headsets or on a monitor.
