The Update | Record Store Day Includes Check Presentation; TubaChristmas Event Returns

NILES, Ohio – The Record Connection will celebrate National Record Store Day on Friday, Nov. 25, with performances by The Vindys and Damian Knapp, and the sale of hundreds of albums exclusively released for the event.

Knapp will perform at 10 a.m., with The Vindys doing an acoustic set at 11:30 a.m.

In between the sets will be a check presentation to Cadence Coffee House in Niles and Golden String of Youngstown.

The money was raised from the sale of The Labra Brothers’ recent album, “Colder Weather,” and also from a turntable raffle sponsored by Jeff Burke, owner of The Record Connection, which is in Pinetree Plaza, U.S. Route 422 at Robins Avenue.

After their set, members of The Vindys will remain to sign and sell vinyl copies of their latest album, “Bugs.”

TubaChristmas, Craft Show at Stambaugh

YOUNGSTOWN – Crafters will exhibit and sell their work at Stambaugh Auditorium on Sunday, Nov. 27, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in conjunction with the annual free TubaChristmas concert, which will begin at 3:30 p.m.

A variety of items including holiday décor, baked goods, pet apparel, handmade artwork, and holiday ornaments will be offered.

TubaChristmas is a celebration of the holidays as tuba players come together and perform a variety of Christmas classics.

Christmas on the Farm Gift Show at Molnar’s

POLAND, Ohio – Christmas on the Farm, a craft and gift market featuring more than 20 local vendors with unique, handmade items, will take place at Molnar Farms, 3115 Western Reserve Road, on Saturday, Nov. 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission is free.

Ambrosia Is Coming to the Robins Theatre

WARREN, Ohio – Ambrosia come to the Robins Theatre on Saturday, April 22, for an 8 p.m. concert.

The band was known for its 1970s and 1980s  hits “How Much I Feel” and “Biggest Part of Me.”

Tickets willl range bfrom $49 to $29 (plus applicable fees) and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at robinstheatre.com and the box office, 160 E. Market St. A presale for members of Friends of the Robins Theatre will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Young Author to Sign Copies of Her Novella

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – Kelli Huffman, a 2020 graduate of Neshannock High School, will sign copies of her book, “Autumn Drawings,” at 3 Thirty Three Apothecary, 121 Enclave Drive, from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26. 

Huffman wrote the romantic-thriller novella. when she was 15 years old. The book was  republished by Ewings Publishing in August.

Huffman is currently a student at Youngstown State University.

Skating Rink Opens for Season at JCC

YOUNGSTOWN – The synthetic ice rink and curling area behind the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, is open through Jan. 1.

Hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and noon to 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Skates and curling equipment are available to rent. The rink does not require below freezing temperatures, which allows for skating at any time. Skating is free but reservations are recommended. Visit jccyoungstown.org/wintercampus to reserve a spot.

Shop & Skate on the Squarte in Lisbon

LISBON, Ohio – The Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce will present Shop & Skate at the Square from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26. Ice skating will be free in the courthouse parking lot, with free skate usage included.

Vendors will be set up throughout the area.
