The Update | Samantha Fish, Mitch Ryder at the Robins; Fundraiser for Rust Belt
WARREN, Ohio – Samantha Fish will return to the Robins Theatre on Friday, Nov. 8, for an 8 p.m. concert during which she will be joined on stage by the legendary Mitch Ryder.
The concert, which will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Ruf Records, will also feature opening acts Canned Heat and Ghalia Volt.
Tickets range from $65 to $35 (plus applicable fees) and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at robinstheatre.com and the box office, 160 E. Market St.
Fish – who is one of the biggest contemporary blues acts – started her career on Ruf Records, where she was given the creative freedom to grow.
She and her band will be joined by Ryder, whose 1960s band Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels was one of the most hard-hitting, blue-eyed soul acts of its era. The band racked up five Top 30 singles in1966 and 1967, including “Good Golly Miss Molly,” and his music has been an influence on rockers such as Bob Seger, John Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen.
Canned Heat, one of the pioneers of blues rock, will also perform. The band is known for its 1960s hits “Going Up the Country,” “Let’s Work Together” and “On the Road Again.”
Canned Heat is currently touring in support of its new Ruf Records release, “Finyl Vinyl.” The band will be joined on stage by Bernard Allison.
To kick off the evening, Ruf Records’ rising star Ghalia Volt will bring her one-woman band to the stage. She was recently highlighted on the television newsmagazine show “60 Minutes.”
