The Update | Selah Theater Presents ‘Kiss the Moon, Kiss the Sun’

STRUTHERS, Ohio – Selah Dessert Theater will open its season with “Kiss the Moon, Kiss the Sun.”

Directed by Mary Ruth Lynn, the drama will run for three weekends, beginning Thursday, Sept. 28 (this performance is sold out), and continuing Sept. 29-30 and Oct. 6-7 and 13-14. Curtain time is 8 p.m. each night.

Tickets are $19.50 (includes dessert and coffee at intermission) and are available at selahrestaurant.com. Preshow dinner reservations can also be made online.

The play, written by Norm Foster, tugs at the heart strings with characters facing real-life challenges and making decisions that change lives.

The story involves a woman who and her 35-year-old son who has the mental age of a 7-year-old. She is battling health issues of her own and is desperate to find someone to care for her son when she is gone.

The cast includes Maria Petrella, Kevin Sullivan, Ben Bogan, Wendy Wygant and Brandon Donaldson.

Exhibit Explores History of Ursuline Sisters

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Ursuline Sisters have been an integral part of Youngstown since 1874, serving as teachers, counselors, social workers, administrators and spiritual directors. 

In recognition of their work, a new exhibit at Tyler’s Youngstown Foundation Community History Gallery will explore the Ursuline Sisters’ history of ministering to the needs of the people of Youngstown.

The exhibit will open Friday, Sept. 22, and run through April 21.

Pink Floyd Tribute Coming to Robins Theatre

WARREN, Ohio – Wish You Were Here, a Pink Floyd tribute show, will come to the Robins Theatre on Jan. 27 for an 8 p.m. concert.

The act, which will include a new laser show that will celebrate the upcoming solar eclipse, performs Pink Floyd classics and obscure songs from all eras of the band.

Tickets range from $39 to $19 (plus applicable fees) and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at robinstheatre.com and at the box office, 160 E. Market St.

A presale for members of Friends of the Robins Theatre will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Tickets Available for Dinner with Author

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Tickets are still available for the Thursday, Sept. 21, appearance of best-selling author David Baldacci at the Main Library, 305 Wick Ave.

The event is being presented by the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County Literary Society as a fundraiser.

The evening will begin with a reception with the author at 6 p.m., and includes dinner, a presentation, a question and answer session and a signed copy of his latest book, “Simply Lies.”

Tickets can be purchased at libraryvisit.org or by calling 330 740 6086. Proceeds will benefit Library Foundation literacy programs, future author events and the Carol A. Bacon Fund.

The Main Branch will close at 1 p.m. Thursday to prepare for the event.

The Berrys to Play Record Release Show

COLUMBIANA, Ohio – The husband-wife duo The Berrys will play a vinyl release show for their new album, “The Wind,” from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Birdfish Brewing. 

Admission is free. The opening act will be the Akron-based band Westbound.

Neil Berg’s 50 Years of Rock at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College Celebrity Series will kick off its 2023-24 season Saturday, Sept. 23, with Neil Berg’s 50 Years of Rock ’N Roll: Part 2.

The show is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Will W. Orr Auditorium on the college’s campus.

This all-new show celebrates the history of rock ’n’ roll from 1929-1981.

With a live band and Broadway vocalists, the show pays tribute to stars ranging from Elvis Presley to Fats Domino, and Carole King to Queen.
