The Update | Shootouts Holiday Concert; Christmas Movies at Cascade Museum
AKRON, Ohio – The 13th annual Ryan Humbert Holiday Extravaganza, A Honky Tonk Holiday featuring The Shootouts, will take place Dec. 10 and 11 at the Akron Civic Theatre’s 200-seat Knight Stage venue.
Start time is 8 p.m. both nights. For tickets, go to AkronCivic.com.
The Shootouts will perform both nights with opening act The Steel Blossoms.
The Shootouts, led by Ryan Humbert, released their most recent album, “Bullseye,” in April. The album reached No. 6 on the Americana chart. The band plans to release its next album, “Stampede,” in 2022.
Holiday Movies at Cascade Theatre Museum
NEW CASTLE, Pa. – A series of classic holiday films will take place this month at the Historic Warner Cascade Theatre Museum, 11 S. Mill St.
The series is sponsored by the New Castle Public Library and the museum.
Seating is limited for the films, which will be screened on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at noon. Admission is free and on a first-come, first-served basis. After the movie, guests can tour the museum.

- Dec. 7: “It’s a Wonderful Life”
- Dec. 8: “White Christmas”
- Dec. 9: “Scrooge (the musical)”
- Dec. 14: “Scrooged”
- Dec. 15: “Elf”
- Dec. 16: “Home Alone”
- Dec. 21: “Polar Express”
- Dec. 22: “Frosty the Snowman” and A Charlie Brown Christmas”
- Dec. 23: “Christmas at Radio City Music Hall”

Square Dance Club Plans Event
NILES, Ohio – The Friendly Squares will host their Christmas dance Dec. 11 at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St.
Square dancing will begin at 7:30 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m. Gene Hammond and Neil Harner will be the callers and Frankie Hammond will be cuing the line dances. This will be a high/low dance with alternating tips for new dancers currently taking lessons and tips for more experienced dancers.
