The Update | Tina Turner Tribute Concert at The Amp
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sheena B. & the 445s will present a tribute to the late Tina Turner at The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24.
The concert is part of the A Night Out for Neighborhoods series. Admission is free. Gates will open at 6 p.m.
Salem Hospital Foundation Gala
SALEM, Ohio – Salem Regional Medical Center Foundation’s 2023 Gala will take place Oct. 14 at The Barn at Firestone Farms in Columbiana.

Cedar Point Fall Hiring Event
SANDUSKY, Ohio – Cedar Point is seeking workers for its fall season. Most positions pay up to $20 per hour.
An in-person fall hiring event will take place Wednesday, Aug. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Point’s Recruiting Center, 2210 First St.
Positions are available in a variety of areas, including food and beverage/culinary services, housekeeping/hotel accommodations, ride operations and more. Available HalloWeekends-specific positions include daytime family activity hosts and Screamsters – the scare actors who provide a high level of fright inside the park’s haunted houses and outdoor fright zones.

Civil Rights Leader to Speak at the JCC
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington at noon Aug. 28 at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane.
Peter Geffen, founder of the Abraham Joshua Heschel School in New York, will speak. He will be introduced by Pastor Kenneth L. Simon, New Bethel Baptist Church.
In the summers of 1965 and 1966, Geffen served as a civil rights worker for Martin Luther King’s Southern Christian Leadership Conference in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He played several historic roles at King’s funeral, including accompanying King’s friend, Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, throughout the funeral procession.
Geffen has remained active in social justice causes his entire life, from civil rights to the movement against the war in Vietnam to Arab-Jewish reconciliation in the Middle East, and many others.

Free Beginner Bridge Lessons
COLUMBIANA, Ohio – The Columbiana Women’s Club will host free beginner bridge lessons with master player Sally Sabota from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays on Sept. 20 and 27, and Oct. 4 and 11. The club is at 121 N. Main St.
The lessons are designed for beginners and those interested in refreshing their game. Each of the two-hour sessions includes a lecture, interaction and practice.
