The Update | Ward Bakery Artists Set Market Dates; Holiday Parade in New Castle

YOUNGSTOWN – The artists of the Ward Bakery Building, 1024 Mahoning Ave., will open their studios on four dates this month to sell their art, jewelry, soap and other items.

The event, dubbed Fa La La at the Ward, will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 19, 20, 26 and 27.

Shoppers can select from artisan-made jewelry, sculpture, pottery, fiber art, soap, mixed media, drawings, prints, photographs, digital art, records and tapes, custom woodwork and vintage furniture and accessories.

Parking and admission are free.

Hometown Holiday Parade, Entertainment

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – The annual Hometown Holiday Parade will take place Saturday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m., downtown.

Festivities will begin at noon with food trucks and pre-event entertainment. The tree lighting will take place after the parade, and pop-up shops will be open.

The grand marshal of the parade will be NASA astronaut and New Castle native Andrew Morgan.

Other events Saturday include:

  • The Holy Spirit Christmas Festival, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Hometown Merry Market, noon to 8 p.m., Cascade Galleria.
  • Photos with Santa, noon to 2 p.m. at The New Castle News.

Actors Sought to Appear in Videos

CANFIELD, Ohio – 898 Marketing is seeking local actors to appear in videos it will make for its clients for television and social media.

Those interested are asked to attend one of two informational sessions at 898’s office, 5721 Shields Road, Canfield: 4-7 p.m. Nov. 17 or Nov. 21.
