Thrift & Thrive at the Farm to Host Holiday Open House

POLAND, Ohio – Thrift & Thrive at the Farm, a resale store that sells new and used donated goods, will host a Holiday Open House from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 7-9.

Customers will have a chance to sample snacks and wander through the store, located at 3279 E. Western Reserve Road, to get a jump on holiday gifting and decorating. Each day will also include a special promotion:

  • Nov. 7: Customers can pick out either a free tin or ornament.
  • Nov. 8: Customers will receive $5 off any toy purchase.
  • Nov. 9: A Thrift-a-Gift demo, from 10 a.m. to noon, will teach customers how to take a thrifted item and create a special holiday gift.

“We are very excited to present our first holiday open house,” said Jody Cercone, director of operations. “Our store is packed with seasonal items, toys, clothing and home goods, and we look forward to welcoming guests to see what we have to offer. Come thrift so all can thrive.”

Cercone discovered his passion for thrifting while fundraising for his daughter’s mission trip through their church, which led to a seven-year venture called Missions Marketplace in Coitsville. Though the church market eventually closed, Cercone, who was a manufacturing representative in stage and studio lighting, saw potential in the concept.

After retiring, he learned about available space at Barth Farms and launched Thrift & Thrive at the Farm in July 2023. With a steady supply of donated goods, inventory is kept fresh, turning donations into support for organizations making a difference in the Mahoning Valley.

The store donates a portion of its proceeds monthly to local organizations such as the Autism Society of Mahoning Valley, Ohio Valley Adult & Teen Challenge-Youngstown and Youngstown Blue Coats.
