TNP Announces Spring Workshops

WARREN, Ohio – Spring classes as part of Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership’s Garden Resources of Warren program will begin April 25 with the GROWing Healthy Workshop, a four-week series covering “eating healthy for a healthy immune system, healthy cooking and fermented foods.”

The workshop will continue May 2, 9 and 16. All classes run from 1 to 3 p.m.

TNP will also feature a workshop on identifying garden pests and plant diseases May 3 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., building raised garden beds May 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the basics of fermented foods May 19 6 to 8 p.m. and the square foot gardening method May 21 from 10 a.m. to noon.

“These classes help to build the capacity of our community gardens by teaching residents new gardening skills,” said Garden Resources of Warren director Sheila Calko in a release. “The classes also improve health by teaching people how to make healthy dietary choices and how to cook healthy meals.”

Each class will be held a different location. The GROWing Healthy series will be at Tod’s Crossing, 1330 Blakely Circle SW, while the garden pest and raised garden workshops will be at 180 N. Park Ave. and Fairview Gardens Community Garden, respectively. The square foot gardening class will be at Community Aerts and Bountiful Living Enterprise, 2017 Willard Ave. SE. The class on fermented foods will be held at the YWCA of Warren, 375 N. Park Ave.
