Toula’s Bridal and Formal Reopens After Fire

CANFIELD, Ohio – After more than 30 years at the same location, a fire forced Toula’s Bridal and Formal to find a new space that is now open just down the street.

Toula’s, now at 4137 Boardman-Canfield Road, has reopened with new lines of dresses and is hosting a Mother-Daughter Night Out: Prom Edition from 3 to 6 p.m Feb. 9. Registered attendees and one guest will have the opportunity to view the latest prom fashions and a Mac Duggal Trunk show, as well as the chance to win 50% off any in-stock prom gown.

Guests who want to attend should go to Toula’s Bridal Facebook page and register as soon as possible. Space is limited, and registration must be made in advance.

The new store is just east of the previous location, which was destroyed by a fire at the end of July. Moving to a new space after more than 30 years was an adjustment, but one that owner Toula Kostoglou is embracing.

“Having to change locations was unexpected, but I like our new space,” she said in a statement. “The new store is a bit smaller, but when I walked in, I knew how I wanted the layout to look and where we were going to build dressing rooms and lay out the space.”

The location was previously used as an office. Renovations included custom dressing areas with seating to accommodate brides and their guests, pink walls and an open floor.

Kostoglou was a custom seamstress when people convinced her she should open her own shop. She started with one room and gradually grew to five. She now employs eight and has built a one-stop shop for brides while providing dresses for bridesmaids and mothers of the bride as well. Her shop also offers a selection of formal dress options for prom and homecoming.

Dresses are hand-picked by Kostoglou with many European designers being featured. The new shop offers more than 300 wedding dresses to choose from with new lines from Europe and two new lines from Italy.

“Making my brides happy is my favorite part,” the owner said. “They are when they leave here. That’s why I’ve been doing this for 30 years.”

Toula’s is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. In addition to dresses, Toula’s offers headpieces, jewelry, alterations and accessories.
