Trek Coffee House to Celebrate Grand Opening

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Trek Coffee House, 1588 Mahoning Ave., will celebrate its grand opening today and Sunday.

The shop, owned by Levi Smith, is known for a mural painted on the east side of the building by Youngstown State University art students. It had its soft opening Jan. 2.

Smith also owns Voyager Coffee, a roasting and distribution company that recently opened in the adjacent building.

A ribbon-cutting will take place at 8:30 a.m. today, with a workshop on the coffee roasting process at 10 a.m. at which experts will explain how roasting influences a bean’s unique traits. Registration is required; go to Trek’s Facebook page.

Coffee Throwdown will take place today from 5 to 7 p.m., with baristas competing in crafting latte designs. Baristas can register at 4:30 p.m.

Yoga Latte Flow: Sip, Stretch, and Savasana will take place at 11 a.m. Sunday. Also Sunday, there will be a coffee flight tasting from 2 to 4 p.m.
