Trumbull County Secures $6.2M for Demolition Projects
WARREN, Ohio – Trumbull County will receive more than $6.2 million toward demolition projects from the latest round of funding from the state of Ohio Department of Development’s Demolition and Site Revitalization program.
The award covers 168 properties, according to a news release from Gov. Mike DeWine’s office. Most of the demo sites – approximately 50 – are in the city of Warren.
Other cities and townships in the county with properties targeted for demolition include Niles, Girard, Hubbard, Weathersfield, Southington, Masury, Newton Falls, Leavittsburg, McDonald, Mineral Ridge, Farmdale, Burghill, West Farmington, Cortland and two parcels in Liberty.
Just four other counties received awards: Summit County, $22.7 million; Pickaway County, $1.98 million; Brown County, $1.1 million; and Ashland County, $1 million.
Together, the state program awarded $33.1 million for 341 vacant buildings in the five counties.

Also, DeWine announced another $16.2 million in Brownfield Redevelopment grants through the state’s Brownfield Redevelopment Program to remediate 52 hazardous brownfield sites in 31 counties.
Locally, the Columbiana County Land Reutilization Corp. was awarded a $219,946 grant for environmental assessment of the former Miller Holzwarth property. The site once was home to Miller-Holzwarth Inc., a company that produced components for military vehicles.
