Trumbull Historical Society Gets $5K from Ohio History Fund

COLUMBUS – The Trumbull County Historical Society has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Ohio History Fund to support the maintenance of its textile collection, state Sen. Sean O’Brien announced Wednesday.

The matching grant award will be used to build a temperature-controlled room for the society’s 550-item textile collection, which includes clothes, quilts and shoes,

“As a proud Trumbull County resident, I was happy to hear of the Ohio History Connection’s grant for the Trumbull County Historical Society,” said O’Brien, D-Bazetta, in the announcement. “These funds will be very beneficial in helping my constituents document our great county’s history for future generations.”

So far this year, Ohio History Connection’s History Fund has made nine grant awards totaling $76,000. Since it was created in 2012, the program has donated $522,000 to 53 organizations.
