Trumbull-Mahoning DEI Collaborative to Host Resource Fair

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Trumbull-Mahoning DEI Collaborative will host a resource fair from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at the Metroplex Expo Center.

Among the resources at the Project AHA! Advancing Health Access Resource Fair, Warren City Health District’s Mobile Health Unit will be available to provide free general wellness checks and health screenings. Also, the Mercy Health Mobile Dental Clinic will provide free dental screenings.

Some of the other resources and services that will be available to the public include:

  • Action and its Mobile Market will be available from 1 to 2:15 pm., and $15 food vouchers will be given to attendees.
  • Alta Behavioral Healthcare’s Youth Move will distribute free hygiene kits.
  • Raphael’s School of Beauty Culture will give free haircuts.
  • Thrive10:10’s Ruth’s Boutique will provide a limited amount of personal hygiene items and other supplies.

“Although Trumbull and Mahoning Counties are rich in services and resources to help those in need, many people in our community still face significant barriers that keep them from accessing and benefiting from those supports,” said Carol Holmes-Chambers, chair of the Trumbull-Mahoning DEI Collaborative and director of school and community wellness for the Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board. “Providing some of those resources in one place is just one way that we can address this issue.”

The resource fair will take place after Project AHA! An Equity Awareness Experience, which is a simulation that provides an opportunity for participants to recognize the diversity of those living in poverty and how it limits the receipt of access to equitable services.
