Two Dates, One Celestial Phenomenon: “Totality!”

The Westminster College Planetarium in the Hoyt Science Center will feature “Totality!,” a show about solar eclipses, from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, and Friday, Oct. 13.

Only two eclipses are set to cross the U.S. in 2023 and 2024: an annular eclipse on Oct. 14 and a total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. The U.S. won’t see another solar eclipse until 2045.

“Totality!” will explore the unique phenomenon of total solar eclipses, which occur when the moon perfectly aligns with the sun, creating “totality.” Attendees will learn about the history of eclipse watchers, how to view an eclipse safely, and the locations of the two upcoming eclipses.

Suitable for ages 6 and older, the show is free but requires registration due to limited seating. For registration or to see future shows, visit www.westminster.edu/planetarium.
