U.S. Sen. Brown’s Butch Lewis Act Has Big Impact

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) took a tour of Schwebel’s Bakery and discussed the impact the Butch Lewis Act included in the American Rescue Plan is having on the company and its employees.

“For the next thirty years, these pensions are guaranteed and they will be honored,” said Senator Brown. “This bill will put several billion dollars into these funds to make sure that they meet their obligations and then the companies begin to put these dollars back in in an affordable way that they can do over the next 30 years.”

The Butch Lewis Emergency Pension Plan Relief Act was included as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, which President Biden signed into law on March 11, 2021.
