United Way, Muransky Family to Host Satur-Day of Caring Giveaway at Southwoods
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley and the Muransky family are making an effort to ensure children, families and seniors are taken care of this holiday season.
Ed and Chris Muransky and their family, along with Southwoods Health, are partnering with the United Way to host the Satur-Day of Caring Christmas Food Giveaway Dec. 18th.
“We are so thankful for Ed and Chris Muransky and their family’s generosity. They have been partnering with us since day one of the pandemic, helping the most vulnerable in our community,” said Bob Hannon, President of the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. “Thanks to the Muransky family’s generosity, we will be serving over 6,000 people, the most we have done all year, through food delivery and our monthly food giveaway.”
The United Way would also like to thank its other partners for the Satur-Day of Caring: Gia Russa, Kufleitner Auto Group, ‘Joe’ Dickey Electric Inc., Meijer – Boardman Store, Save-A-Lot and the Nemenz and Kawecki families, and another generous donor who wishes to remain anonymous.
The event will distribute 600 holiday food boxes filled with fresh foods and non-perishable items. These boxes can be picked up during a drive-thru food giveaway at the Southwoods Medical Center in Boardman from 11am – 2pm.
The food drive is not open to the public, and recipients are eligible through referrals. All recipients must register prior to Dec. 18 HERE.
In addition to the drive-thru, the United Way will also be hosting its monthly Satur-Day of Caring food delivery on Dec. 18. This initiative, started by the United Way and Muransky family in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, will serve more than 400 families and shut-ins across the Mahoning Valley.
The recipients of Satur-Day of Caring must also be referred to the United Way through its non-profit partners or partner school districts.
