United Way to Offer Free Tax Assistance for East Palestine Residents

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley and the United Way of Summit and Medina are teaming up to help East Palestine residents affected by the Norfolk Southern train derailment in the village.

The United Ways are collaborating through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program to complete amended tax returns for free for residents from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at First Church of Christ, 20 W. Martin St.

The service is available only to residents who received financial assistance from Norfolk Southern after the Feb. 3, 2023, derailment.
