United Way Trumbull Seeks School Supplies for Needy Students

WARREN, Ohio — The United Way of Trumbull County is calling on area businesses, organizations, clubs and churches to help collect school supplies for low-income students across the county.

During “Operation Back 2 School” from July 16 to August 10, organizations can host drives at their location. Hosts can designate their collections for a specific school district. Otherwise, supplies collected will be distributed by United Way to various schools and partner agencies in Trumbull County.

“This drive is not limited to any particular school or district. We would love to reach every school building in every district in Trumbull County,” said Ginny Pasha, president of United Way of Trumbull County. “Our overall goal for Operation Back 2 School is to get school supplies in the hands of all the kids in Trumbull County who come to school without the supplies needed to learn.”

Requested supplies include loose leaf paper, spiral notebooks, three-ring binders, composition books, two-pocket folders, three-prong folders, No. 2 pencils, pens, highlighters, colored markers, colored pencils, crayons, erasers, pencil pouches, glue, glue sticks, rulers, nylon book covers, scissors, calculators and backpacks.

Interested parties can call (330) 369-1000, ext. 29 or email crogers@unitedwaytrumbull.org.  Additional information is available on United Way’s website at www.unitedwaytrumbull.org/operation-back-2-school-2. Participating sites will be available on the United Way’s website and announced to the media prior to July 16, as well as throughout the Sales Tax Free Weekend, August 3-5.

Monetary donations can be made toward the purchase of new school supplies as well. Text the word “Trumbull” to 41444 or make checks payable to and mail to United Way of Trumbull County, c/o Operation Back 2 School, 3601 Youngstown Road, S.E., Warren, Ohio 44484, with optional designation in the memo.
