United Way’s Mentorship Program Empowers Young Women

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Students from Boardman Center Intermediate School got a chance to enjoy their hard work through the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley’s Young Women’s Mentorship Program.

With the encouragement and support of adult women mentors, students got to make and eat personal pizzas from scratch at the culinary literacy center inside the Youngstown Library’s main branch.

“They are learning other skill sets when they go out into the community,” says Kathy Mock, community impact manager for the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. “Exposing them to all different kinds of experiences is what this program does with the awesome support of the adult women mentors.”
