Valley Auto Sales Dip Slightly in October

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Auto sales in the area were slightly off last year’s pace in October, as 5,223 new and used vehicles were sold, down 2.8% year-over-year.

In it’s monthly sales tally, the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association reported 2,951 new cars were sold, down 17 from the total in October 2019, and 2,189 used cars were sold, a decrease of 149.

Sweeney Chevrolet, Boardman, was the leader for new cars sold to residents of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties with 197 sold in October, down 31 from a year ago. Following in the top five were Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, with 170 sold, up 31; Boardman Subaru, Boardman, with 150, down five; Taylor Kia of Boardman with 133, up 15; and Fairway Ford, Canfield, with 130, up 42.

On the used-car sales chart, Sweeney Buick GMC and Taylor Kia, both in Boardman, tied for the top spot with 98 sold. Sweeney’s figure was even with its tally from a year ago, while Taylor Kia’s was down 19.

Among the association’s entire 22-county footprint, Fairway Ford was the top area dealer for combined new and used car sales with 335 delivered, good for No. 4. Sweeney Chevrolet ranked sixth with 291, Greenwood Chevrolet eighth with 267, Boardman Subaru ninth with 246 and Taylor Kia 10th with 244.

Fred Martin Superstore, Barberton, was the top dealer with 517 new and used vehicles sold.
