Valley Auto Sales Drop 11.3% in July
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Auto sales in the Mahoning Valley dipped 11.3% in July, with 5,147 new and used vehicles sold, according to the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association.
Month-over-month, total sales were down about 100 from June’s levels.
New-car sales to buyers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties totaled 2,477 in July, a 15.9% drop from the same month a year ago. Used-car sales fell 5.7% to 2,616.
For new-car sales, Taylor Kia of Boardman was No. 1 in the three-county area with 159 sold, 42 more than a year ago. Following were Sweeney Chevrolet, Boardman, with 139, down 69; Boardman Subaru, Boardman, with 114, down 40; Sweeney Buick GMC, Boardman, with 110, down 67; and in a tie for fifth with 106, Sims Buick GMC in Warren, up 40, and Kufleitner Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Boardman, up 31.
Fred Martin Ford led used-car sales with 128 delivered. Also hitting triple digits were Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown with 115 and both Taylor Kia and Boardman Subaru with 100.
Across the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association’s 22-county footprint, combined sales of new and used vehicles fell 9.4% to 8,880 in July.
Only two local dealerships ranked in the top 10 for combined sales: Taylor Kia at No. 6 with 293 and Boardman Subaru at No. 10 with 244.
