Valley Auto Sales Slip 4.2% in February
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – New and used car sales in the area fell 4.2% in February as 3,940 vehicles were sold, according to data from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association.
New-car sales to buyers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties totaled 1,970 last month, down 10% from the year before, while used-car sales rose 2.9% to 1,904.
Sweeney Chevrolet topped the new-car sales chart with 139 deliveries, up 16 from a year ago. Following were Boardman Subaru with 122, up 13; Sweeney Buick GMC with 107, down 31; Greenwood Chevrolet with 107, up five; and Stadium GM with 105, down 52.
Greenwood Chevy was atop the sales list for used vehicles with 101 delivered to customers. It was the only area dealership to hit triple-digit sales.
For the dealership association’s 22-county membership area, nine local stores placed in the top 20 for combined new and used sales. Sweeney Chevrolet was fifth with 230, Greenwood Chevrolet sixth with 223, Fairway Ford eighth with 195, Sweeney Buick GMC ninth with 189 and Taylor Kia of Boardman 10th with 186.
Outside the top 10 were Boardman Subaru (11th, 182), Stadium GM (12th, 179), Fred Martin Ford (14th, 169) and Toyota of Boardman (16th, 153).
