Valley Communities Post Lower Unemployment Rates in March
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Unemployment declined month-over-month in March by nearly a full percentage in area communities, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Tuesday morning.
Trumbull County reported a 5.3% unemployment rate last month, down from 6.1% in February. Mahoning County’s unemployment rate was 5.0%, down from 5.9% and Columbiana County’s rate was 4.6% last month down from 5.3% the month before.
In March 2021, Trumbull’s unemployment rate was 7.5%, Mahoning’s was 7.8% and Columbiana’s 6.4%.
Youngstown’s unemployment rate in March was 5.6%, down from 6.5% the month before and from 9.6% in March 2021. Warren’s unemployment rate was 5.8% last month, down from 6.6% in February and from 8.4% in March 2021.
Unemployment in the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman, OH-PA Metropolitan Statistical Area was 5.2% in March, compared with 5.9% in February and 7.8% in March 2021.
