Valley Unemployment Rates Decrease in August
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Local unemployment rates showed a month-over-month decrease in August, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Tuesday.
Mahoning County’s unemployment rate in August was 5%, down from 5.8% in July. Trumbull County’s rate decreased from 6% to 5.2%, and Columbiana County’s rate dropped from 5.4% to 4.7%.
Rates in all three counties were up from a year earlier. The August 2023 unemployment rate was 4.3% in Mahoning County, 4.4% in Trumbull County and 4.2% in Columbiana County.
The unemployment rate in the city of Youngstown decreased from 7.7% in July to 6.4% in August. The rate was up from 5.7% in August 2023.
The city of Warren’s unemployment rate decreased from 6% in July to 5.2% in August. The rate was up from 4.4% in August 2023.
