Valley Unemployment Rates Decrease in July

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Local unemployment rates showed a month-over-month decrease in July, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Tuesday.

Mahoning County’s unemployment rate in July was 5.8%, down from 6.1% in June. Trumbull County’s rate decreased from 6.2% to 5.9%, and Columbiana County’s rate dropped from 5.8% to 5.2%.

Rates in all three counties were up from a year earlier. The July 2023 unemployment rate was 4.1% in Mahoning County, 4.3% in Trumbull County and 4.2% in Columbiana County.

The unemployment rate in the city of Youngstown decreased from 8% in June to 7.6% in July. The rate was up from 5.5% in July 2023.

The city of Warren’s unemployment rate decreased from 7.9% in June to 7.8% in July. The rate was up from 5.5% in July 2023.
