Valley Unemployment Rates Increase in February

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Local unemployment rates showed a month-over-month increase in February, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Tuesday.

Mahoning County’s unemployment rate in February was 5.4%, up from 5.2% in January. Trumbull County’s rate increased from 5.4% to 5.6%, and Columbiana County’s rate rose from 5.1% to 5.2%.

Rates in Mahoning and Trumbull counties were up from a year earlier. The February 2023 unemployment rate was 5.1% in Mahoning County and 5.4% in Trumbull County. Columbiana County’s unemployment rate was down from 5.3% in February 2023.

The unemployment rate in the city of Youngstown increased from 5.9% in January to 6.1% in February. The rate was up from 6.0% in February 2023.

The city of Warren’s unemployment rate increased from 6.0% in January to 6.1% in February. The rate was unchanged from 6.1% in February 2023.
