Valley Unemployment Rates Increase in June
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Local unemployment rates showed a month-over-month increase in June, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Tuesday.
Mahoning County’s unemployment rate in June was 6.1%, up from 5.6% in May. Trumbull County’s rate increased from 5.6% to 6.3%, and Columbiana County’s rate rose from 5.3% to 5.8%.
Rates in all three counties were up from a year earlier. The June 2023 unemployment rate was 4.3% in Mahoning County, 4.4% in Trumbull County and 4.3% in Columbiana County.
The unemployment rate in the city of Youngstown increased from 7.1% in May to 8% in June. The rate was up from 5.6% in June 2023.
The city of Warren’s unemployment rate increased from 6.7% in May to 8% in June. The rate was up from 5.7% in June 2023.
