Valley Unemployment Rates Increase in March

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Local unemployment rates showed a month-over-month increase in March, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Tuesday.

Mahoning County’s unemployment rate in March was 5.5%, up from 5.4% in February. Trumbull County’s rate increased from 5.6% to 5.8%, and Columbiana County’s rate rose from 5.2% to 5.3%.

Rates in all three counties were up from a year earlier. The March 2023 unemployment rate was 4.8% in Mahoning County, 4.9% in Trumbull County and 4.7% in Columbiana County.

The unemployment rate in the city of Youngstown increased from 6.1% in February to 6.4% in March. The rate was up from 5.8% in March 2023.

The city of Warren’s unemployment rate increased from 6.1% in February to 6.5% in March. The rate was up from 5.7% in March 2023.
