VanSuch Joins Stifel as Managing Director

CANFIELD, Ohio — Stifel Financial Corp. this week announced the addition of Stephen C. VanSuch, a veteran financial advisor and manager from Merrill Lynch.

VanSuch will serve as managing director of investments and branch manager in Canfield at the firm’s subsidiary, Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Inc. He will work alongside Ralph Fajack, branch manager, to spearhead the Youngstown market. With VanSuch’s addition, there are now 24 financial advisors across two Stifel locations in Canfield.

VanSuch comes to Stifel with 24 years of experience as a managing director at Merrill Lynch. There, he managed $500 million in client assets and previously held the position of senior resident director.

“My team and I are incredibly excited to move our practice to Stifel,” VanSuch saiys. “Stifel’s entrepreneurial culture will enhance our ability to serve our valued clients, and the resources available to us here are first rate. I’ve been particularly impressed by the organizational support we’ve received from executive management as we look to recruit new advisors and grow our presence in the market. Stifel’s roots in the Mahoning Valley run deep, and the firm is truly committed to investing in our community and our team’s success.”

Stifel’s connection to the Mahoning Valley spans several decades. Notably, in 2008, the company acquired the Youngstown-based Butler Wick & Company, established in 1926. In 2009, Stifel added a Private Client Group office in Canfield, following its acquisition of 56 USB Financial Services branches.

“Steve [VanSuch] is a client-focused advisor with an outstanding practice and a stellar reputation, and we’re proud that he’s made Stifel his firm of choice,” says Jim Zemlyak, co-president of Stifel. “At Stifel, he and his team will be able to grow their business while strengthening the client relationships they’ve worked so hard to build. We look forward to expanding our presence in the Youngstown area under Steve’s leadership.”

Stifel Financial Corp., headquartered in St. Louis, is listed on the NYSE as SF. The firm provides a range of services, including securities brokerage, investment banking, trading, investment advisory, and more to individual investors, professional money managers, businesses, and municipalities.
