VEC Electrical Engineer Sworn in as American Citizen

VEC, Inc. Team Member Sworn in as American Citizen

GIRARD, Ohio – Ahmad Omishat, an electrical engineer at VEC Inc., was sworn in as an American citizen in a naturalization oath ceremony in Youngstown today. Omishat has been with VEC for almost a year and is originally from Jordan. He moved to the United States to attend college at Youngstown State University.

“I came to the United States when I was 18 years old, and my only goal at the time was to go to school, get my electrical engineering degree and then go back,” Omishat said. “By the first year, I was working, going to school and life couldn’t get any better for me. The longer I stayed here, the more I loved this country and the people here, as well.

“America is truly the land of opportunity; America has given me more than what I was looking for.”

Omishat passed his citizenship exam earlier this year.

“Today, at 26 years old, I couldn’t be happier knowing that I will be a citizen of the United States and will become part of this great nation. Knowing that people came here from all over the world with the same dream and built this great country to be the land of opportunity and freedom for everyone makes me proud to call myself an American.”

VEC celebrated this milestone event with a small reception in Omishat’s honor at its Girard headquarters.

VEC Inc. is a complete solutions provider for construction services. The company provides electrical, mechanical, fabrication, civil and low voltage services for a variety of industries.
