Visit Lawrence County Waives Fees

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – With no relief in sight from the pandemic, Visit Lawrence County did everything it could to help its members in 2021.

It waived all membership fees and promoted all tourism-related businesses, offering space in its visitors guide and on its website.

Visit Lawrence County will continue to promote all tourism-related businesses for free this year but has added a tiered membership program that allows a paid member to have extra benefits, says Janet Falotico, executive director.

And the bureau will use its grant money to sponsor members’ events, she says.

Visit Lawrence County worked with seven other tourism marketing groups last year to provide a mutual boost. Each agency purchased items from businesses in its county and gave them away in $100 increments to its counterparts for promotional purposes. The program was such a success that it is being expanded to 10 counties this year, Falotico says.

Last year also saw the opening of the county’s newest attraction, Quaker Falls Recreation Area. Located off U.S. route 224 near the state line, it’s believed to be the first settlement of Quakers west of the Alleghenies.
