VLT Play Reaches Record $91.1M at Racino
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course posted its best month in July from video lottery terminal play since its opening nearly two years ago, the Ohio Lottery Commission reported Monday.
Bettors wagered $91.1 million in July on VLTs at the Austintown racino, beating the $90.6 million in May, the racino’s previous best month, according to the monthly reports posted on the commission’s website. VLT wagers at Mahoning Valley were up $12.3 million from $78.8 million in July 2015, a 15.5% increase over the year.
By comparison, at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway, which opened before the Austintown racino, VLT play last month totaled $84.3 million, up $9.6 million or 12.8% from July 2015’s $74.7 million.
Both racinos are operated by Penn National Gaming Inc. of Wyomissing, Pa.
Statewide, VLT play totaled $871.8 million in July, a 9.3% increase over the year from $797.5 million year-over-year.
Bettors at Mahoning Valley won credits totaling $81.2 million in July, up from $70.1 million a year earlier. Net win was $8.8 million last month, up from $8.3 million in July 2015. Penn National received $5.8 million in July as its commission for operating the Austintown racino, up from $5.5 million a year earlier.
