VLT Play, Winnings Up in December at Racino

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Wagers on video lottery terminals at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course in December were up nearly 10% from December 2016.

The Ohio Lottery Commission reported Monday that VLT wagers at the Austintown racino last month totaled $90.03 million, compared with $82.3 million in December 2016, a 9.4% increase.

In December, the average number of VLTs operating per day was 1,035, compared with the 982 in use per day a year earlier.

Winnings totaled $79.56 million in December, up from the $73.24 million bettors took home in December 2016.

Penn National Gaming Inc., the Wyomissing, Pa. company that operates the racino received $5.30 million for operating the facility.

Statewide, $867.42 million was wagered on the 11,234 VLTs that operate at state gambling establishments during December. That was up from the $815.36 million net last month on the 10,988 video slot machines operating on average per day in December 2016.

Winnings statewide totaled $773.50 million for the month, up from the $728.36 million won in December 2016.
