VLT Wagers at Racino Total $102M in August
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Video lottery terminal wagers at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course in August topped $100 million for the second consecutive month and for the fourth time since its opening nearly four years ago.
VLT wagers totaled $102.33 million last month, edging out July’s $102.19 million for the third-highest month since the racino opened in September 2014. Penn National Gaming Inc. of Wyomissing, Pa., operates the racino. In August 2017, VLT wagers totaled $93.52 million.
The racino reported its best month in terms of VLT wagers in March when $109.74 million was wagered, followed by $103.33 million in April.
On average, there were 1,037 VLTs operating per day in August, with an average win per VLT per day of $317.
Those wagering on the VLTs last month took home credits worth $90.76 million, up from $90.47 million in July as well as from $83.26 million in August 2017.
Of last month’s $10.20 million net win – credits played minus credits won and promotional play credits – Penn National received $6.75 million as its commission for operating the racino, while the Ohio Lottery Commission, which oversees VLT operations in the state, received $3.42 million. A fund for problem-gaming services received $33,910.
