Warehouse Project Eyed for Bazetta Township
BAZETTA, Ohio – A new warehouse and distribution center that could create 120 full-time jobs is in the works for this section of Trumbull County, a township trustee confirms.
“This is a great project for Bazetta Township and its residents,” said Michael Hovis, who announced the project at a trustees meeting Tuesday evening.
The entire project should cost approximately $30 million, Hovis said. The township has been working on the deal for two years. It would consist of developing more than 60 acres along Perkins-Jones Road, just east of the former Kmart distribution center.
Ambrose Property Group, based in Indianapolis, is spearheading the development for an as yet unnamed end user, Hovis said. The end user’s name could not be divulged because of nondisclosure agreements, he said.
The company – an industrial, logistics and e-commerce real estate development and investment firm founded in 2008 – has completed $1.2 billion worth of industrial projects in major markets across the United States, according to its website.
Work on the 169,000-square-foot distribution center could begin as early as October and completed within a year, Hovis said. First, the developer wants to extend a 2,000-foot sanitary sewer line running west from an apartment complex along Perkins-Jones to the project site.
As of Wednesday, there were no recent property transactions recorded along Perkins-Jones, per the Trumbull County Auditor’s office.
Hovis added that this project could help draw additional interest to the area and lay the groundwork for future development. “We do anticipate future industrial growth in the township,” he said.
