Warren JFK Student Named to School Safety Advisory Council
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jacob Conde, a Warren John F. Kennedy Catholic High School student, is one of 16 students who were recently selected for the Ohio School Safety Center’s advisory council.
The group of students will attend the 2023 Ohio School Safety Summit on July 25-26 at the Columbus Convention Center, where they will network with their peers and attend initial informational sessions on violence prevention strategies.
Gov. Mike DeWine created the advisory council last year, which works with Ohio School Safety Center leadership to identify school safety concerns and develop innovative solutions to address them.
“This year’s students worked hard to get their peers and administrators to get involved in safety initiatives throughout the year, and each took on separate capstone projects,” said OSSC Executive Director Emily Torok. “We can’t wait to see them present at this year’s summit and mentor next year’s students.”
The other students named to the advisory council are Cole Knippen, Ottoville High School, Putnam County; Ella Smola, Evergreen High School, Fulton County; Diya Brahmbatt, Aurora High School, Portage County; Zaid Ashruf, University School, Cuyahoga County; Saanvi Gattu, Olentangy High School, Delaware County; Ava Johnson, West Liberty-Salem High School, Champaign County; Tanner Elam, Tecumseh High School, Clark County; Hunter Dean, Green County Career Center, Green County; Jaila Watkins, Gahana Lincoln High School, Franklin County; Presley Horton, Jackson High School, Stark County; Kira Dolan, Grand Valley Local Schools, Ashtabula County; Alyssa Dudley, Chillicothe High School, Ross County; Holden Lemaster, Logan High School, Hocking County; Ella Strauch, Chillicothe High School, Ross County; and Emerson Crowl, Athens High School, Athens County.
Those students will be joined by 13 of the council members from last year, who have agreed to return, mentor the incoming council and continue to work on projects in their communities for school safety improvements.
