Webinar for Manufacturers on Production Technician Certification

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Oh-Penn Manufacturing Collaborative will host a free one-hour webinar at 10 a.m. Aug. 26 so regional manufacturers can learn more about the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council’s Certified Production Technician.

This certification can verify the mastery of applicant and worker skills.

Participants also will learn how they can tap into more than $300,000 in grants to help pay for training and certification costs. National experts and regional leaders will provide an overview of the certification standards including how such assessments can reduce training costs and increase retention.

The Manufacturing Skill Standards Council is an industry-led training, assessment and certification organization focused on the core technical competencies frontline production workers need, Oh-Penn says.

According to the standards council, the goal of the certification program is raising production workers’ levels of performance so they can earn more and help employers ensure their workforces increases their companies’

The standards council awards certificates to individuals who pass any of its five production modules: safety, quality practices and measurement, manufacturing processes and production, maintenance awareness, and green production. A full CPTAE Certification is awarded those who pass all four modules (Note: Green production is not required for full-CPTAE certification.)
